The Rev. Paul Anthony Daniels is the Rector of the Parish of St. Mary in Palms in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. He is also a Ph.D. student in Systematic Theology at Fordham University and a recipient of the Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship. He has forthcoming articles in the Journal of Theology & Sexuality, the Political Theology journal, and a book chapter in a collection on African American Religious History (two of which read Howard Thurman alongside contemporary issues in black studies and queer theory). His dissertation examines the relationship between critiques of the Modern notion of ‘the human’ in black studies and Christian mysticism.
