Feast of Saint Barnabas
11 June 2026
My dearest Saint Paul’s,
It is my great joy to share the news that I have called the Rev’d Maureen Major to serve as Associate Rector. Mother Mo will begin her ministry here on the 30th of June and will preach her first sermon on the 19th of July.
For the last three years she has served as Priest-in-Charge of Saint James Episcopal Church in Boardman, Ohio. Mo brings passion for building deep relationships, forming faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, and reaching out to those beyond the walls of the church. She has deep ties to the Diocese of Ohio and the northeast Ohio region. Mother Mo holds degrees from Walsh University, the University of Dayton, and was formed for ministry at Bexley Seabury Seminary Federation in Chicago.
I am excited to welcome her to our community later this month. Please hold Mo and her daughter in your prayers as they prepare to move to the Heights and begin this new stage of their lives.
I remain your servant in Christ Jesus.
Pax et bonum,

The Reverend T.J. Freeman SMMS
Seventeenth Rector
Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church

To Christ’s beloved at Saint Paul’s,
May mercy, peace, and love be yours in abundance!
I am thrilled to introduce myself as your new Associate Rector. I would also like to introduce you to my family: my two-year-old daughter, Deborah, and our cats, Azrael and Uriel (though they prefer to offer their greetings from afar). We are so excited to join you as companions on this journey of living out our baptismal call.
Deborah and I are both people-persons, and we look forward to becoming part of a place filled with such vitality and diversity. You greeted me with such warmth when I visited that I knew Saint Paul’s was a place Deborah and I could call home. You are people who lead from the heart.
Prior to accepting your call, I served as Priest-in-Charge of Saint James in Boardman, a small congregation near the Pennsylvania border. It was there that I learned relationships are everything. Because our congregation was small, we focused our ministry on building connections outward through interfaith and interdenominational partnerships. While the congregation did not have the financial resources to remain open, the community continues to gather, pray, and study alongside fellow followers of God.
My time at Saint James reaffirmed a vocation that had been stirring in me since seminary: to serve as an Associate Rector and to work alongside clergy and laity in proclaiming and building God’s reign.
Outside of ministry, Deb and I enjoy rewatching Legally Blonde and taking walks through our neighborhood. When I can find a babysitter, I love seeing stand-up comedians, watching (and once upon a time participating in) live musicals, and attending Irish punk shows with my sisters, where we play a game called “count the kilts.” I also enjoy making my whole life a liturgy, creating little altars wherever I go, complete with toddler-friendly saint statues.
Saint Thérèse of Lisieux wrote, “Holiness consists simply in doing God’s will, and being just what God wants us to be.” I believe Saint Paul’s is being exactly what God is calling it to be, and I am deeply grateful to be joining you in that work.
Your little sister in Jesus,
Mother Mo Major

Welcome, Mother Mo!
