SUMMARY:The Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels. \nThe Feast of St. Michael and All Angels\, often called Michaelmas\, celebrates the presence and power of God’s messengers. The word angel means “messenger\,” and throughout scripture angels appear as agents of God’s will—sometimes visible\, sometimes unseen—bringing guidance\, strength\, and protection. \nChristian tradition depicts them with wings for swiftness\, swords for power\, and radiant garments for enlightenment\, though such imagery has sometimes caused skeptics to dismiss them as mythical. \nOf the many angels mentioned in the Bible\, only four are named: Michael\, Gabriel\, Uriel\, and Raphael. Chief among them\, Michael is honored as the defender of God’s people\, the one who overcomes evil and brings peace at the end of life’s struggles. His feast has been widely observed for centuries\, and churches dedicated to him include Mont Saint-Michel in France and Coventry Cathedral in England\, testifying to his enduring place in Christian devotion.

SUMMARY:The Feast of Saint Luke
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of St. Luke the Evangelist. \nSt. Luke was a physician and companion of Paul in the early missionary journeys of the church. Tradition credits him as the author of both the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles\, written in Greek so that Gentiles might come to know the story of Jesus. \nLuke’s Gospel alone records treasured stories such as the annunciation to Mary\, the visit to Elizabeth\, the birth of Jesus in the manger\, the angels appearing to shepherds\, and Simeon’s blessing in the temple. He also includes parables and miracles not found elsewhere\, highlighting Christ’s compassion and healing power. Acts continues the story with the coming of the Holy Spirit\, the apostles’ witness in the face of persecution\, and the spread of the Good News. \nLuke is said to have remained with Paul until his death in Rome\, and though the details of his own death are uncertain\, tradition places it in Greece. Honored as the patron saint of physicians and artists\, Luke is also remembered in Orthodox tradition as the first iconographer\, bearing witness in word and image to the love of Christ.

SUMMARY:The Feast of Saint James of Jerusalem
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of St. James of Jerusalem. \nSt. James of Jerusalem is known in scripture as the Lord’s brother—though tradition variously describes him as brother\, half-brother\, or cousin of Jesus. Converted after the resurrection\, James became the first Bishop of Jerusalem and a key leader in the early church. \nPaul notes that James was granted a special appearance of the risen Christ\, and at the Council of Jerusalem he helped guide the church toward welcoming Gentile converts without imposing the full weight of Jewish law. Known as “James the Just\,” he lived a life of prayer\, simplicity\, and holiness\, and was deeply revered for his intercession on behalf of his people. His bold witness to Jesus as Messiah\, however\, provoked opposition\, and according to tradition he was thrown from the temple roof and beaten to death for his testimony. Honored as both apostle and martyr\, James is remembered for his wisdom\, his reconciling spirit\, and his steadfast faith unto death.

SUMMARY:The Feast of Saint Simon + Saint Jude
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of Saint Simon and Saint Jude\, Apostles. \nSt. Simon and St. Jude are two of the least-known apostles\, yet tradition has long linked their names and their missionary witness. Both appear in the New Testament lists of the twelve\, with Simon distinguished by the title “the Zealot\,” though it is unclear whether this referred to his former association with the Jewish Zealot movement or simply his fervent devotion to God’s law. Jude\, sometimes called Thaddeus\, is remembered in popular devotion as the patron saint of desperate or lost causes. \nAncient tradition holds that Simon and Jude carried the gospel to Persia and Armenia\, where they were martyred together\, their steadfast witness sealed in blood. The church honors them for their faithfulness\, zeal\, and courage\, reminding us that even the least known disciples can bear lasting fruit in God’s mission.

SUMMARY:The Feast of Saint Andrew
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle. \nSt. Andrew is best known as the brother of Simon Peter\, yet he holds a distinct and important place among the apostles. Once a disciple of John the Baptist\, Andrew was among the first to follow Jesus after John proclaimed him as the Lamb of God. His immediate response was to bring his brother to Christ\, making Andrew the first missionary in the circle of disciples. \nThough not part of Jesus’ inner three—Peter\, James\, and John—Andrew appears in key moments\, including when he brought the boy with the loaves and fishes to Jesus at the feeding of the multitude. The Gospels portray him as one eager to connect others to Christ. While little is known about his later ministry\, early tradition claims he preached in Scythia and was martyred on an X-shaped cross. Honored as the patron saint of Scotland\, Andrew is remembered as one who quietly but faithfully led others to the Lord.

SUMMARY:Longest Night Service
DESCRIPTION:As the longest night of the year approaches\, we remember those confronting sadness and grief or who feel disconnected from the joyful spirit of the holidays. All are welcome to a “Blue Christmas” service with music and candle lighting\, when we’ll lay our burdens before God\, pray for healing for ourselves and those we love\, and hear the hopeful message of the light that shines in the darkness.

SUMMARY:The Feast of The Epiphany
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of the Epiphany. \nOn this holy feast of the Epiphany\, we remember the God who\, by the leading of a star\, made known his Son to the peoples of the earth. Like the Magi\, we are led by light to seek the glory of Christ\, revealed in humility and love. \nWe’ll mark the arrival of the magi with the ancient Epiphany custom of the “chalking of the doors” and a service of the Holy Eucharist\, followed by a dessert reception featuring cake and toasting with champagne and sparkling grape juice. “Chalking the doors” is a ritual to ask God’s blessing on our homes and lives. We’ll send everyone home with chalk and special prayers to observe this custom in their own homes.

SUMMARY:The Feast of The Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord. \nThe Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord recalls the moment when Mary and Joseph brought the infant Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem\, offering him to the Lord in keeping with the law that every firstborn son be dedicated to God. \nAlso known as the Purification of Saint Mary the Virgin\, the Meeting of Christ with Simeon\, or Candlemas\, the feast reveals the rich layers of meaning Christians have found in this event. When Simeon received the child in his arms\, the old covenant met the new: the age of sacrifice and offering gave way to the perfect self-offering of God’s own Son. \nSimeon’s song\, the Nunc dimittis\, proclaims the light of salvation for all people—a light symbolized by the blessing of candles traditionally observed on this day. Simeon is not alone in recognizing the Messiah in his midst; Anna\, a prophet of great age who worshipped at the temple night and day with fasting and prayer\, offered testimony on the infant’s behalf: that this child would be a sign for the redemption of Jerusalem. The Presentation reminds the faithful that Christ\, the light of the world\, has entered the temple of humanity\, and invites them to offer their own hearts and lives in gratitude and purity before God.

SUMMARY:The Feast of Saint Matthias
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of Saint Matthias the Apostle. \nThe Feast of St. Matthias honors the apostle chosen to take the place of Judas among the Twelve. During the days between Jesus’ Ascension and Pentecost\, the disciples gathered in prayer and discernment. Peter reminded them that the company of apostles must again be complete\, selecting one who had accompanied Jesus from his baptism to his ascension and could bear witness to the resurrection. Two men were proposed—Joseph called Barsabbas and Matthias—and after prayer\, lots were cast\, with the lot falling to Matthias\, who was then numbered among the apostles. \nThough Scripture records nothing further about him\, Matthias stands as a model of quiet faithfulness and steadfast discipleship—one who followed Jesus without fame and was ready when called to serve. Later legends\, though imaginative\, portray him as courageous and devoted in hardship\, reflecting the same grace and humility seen in the biblical account. The Church remembers him as a witness chosen by God\, whose hidden service reminds all Christians that steadfast faith and readiness to serve are themselves marks of true apostleship.

SUMMARY:The Feast of Saint Joseph
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of Saint Joseph. \nThe Feast of St. Joseph honors the man chosen by God to be the guardian of Jesus and the husband of Mary. Scripture portrays Joseph as a man of quiet strength\, deep faith\, and tender obedience—one who\, even when faced with confusion and distress\, trusted in God’s guidance and accepted his vocation with humility. He protected Mary and the infant Jesus\, leading them to safety in Egypt\, and raised Jesus in Nazareth as a faithful Jew and skilled craftsman. \nKnown as “Joseph the Carpenter\,” he is revered as the patron saint of workers and families\, embodying the dignity of labor and the holiness of daily life. Though the Gospels tell us little about him\, Joseph’s example of righteousness\, compassion\, and steadfast devotion has inspired generations of Christians to trust in God’s will and to serve faithfully in the quiet tasks of love and duty.
