SUMMARY:Coventry Camerata: The Renaissance Revival in 20th-century England
DESCRIPTION:St. Paul’s ensemble-in-residence\, the Coventry Camerata\, presents a choral concert exploring the revival of Renaissance choral style that occurred during the 20th-century in England and elsewhere. They present three masterpieces that exemplify this revival: Mass in G Minor by Ralph Vaughan Williams\, with Requiem and Take Him\, Earth\, for Cherishing by Herbert Howells. The concert is completely unaccompanied\, which captures the raw emotional essence of each of these three works. \nThe 18-voice ensemble is conducted by Kevin Jones.

SUMMARY:The Feast of Saint Mark the Evangelist
DESCRIPTION:On April 25\, the Feast of Saint Mark the Evangelist\, join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The Rector\, T.J. Freeman\, will preach. \nThe Feast of St. Mark the Evangelist honors the author of the second Gospel and one of the earliest witnesses to the life and ministry of Jesus. The New Testament mentions a disciple named Mark several times—likely the same person who was the cousin of Barnabas and the son of a woman whose house in Jerusalem served as a meeting place for the first Christians. Tradition suggests he may even have been the young man who fled from Gethsemane on the night of Jesus’ arrest. \nMark accompanied Paul and Barnabas on their missionary journey but turned back early\, causing a brief rift with Paul. In time\, however\, reconciliation came\, and Mark became a trusted companion of both Paul and Peter—whom Peter affectionately called “my son.” \nEarly Christian tradition\, preserved by Papias\, identifies Mark as the evangelist who recorded Peter’s memories and teachings in his Gospel. The Church of Alexandria venerates him as its first bishop and martyr\, and the great basilica of St. Mark in Venice bears witness to his enduring legacy. Mark’s life—marked by failure\, growth\, reconciliation\, and steadfast witness—reflects the transforming power of God’s grace and the call to proclaim Christ faithfully in every generation.

SUMMARY:The Feast of Saints Philip and James
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on The Eve of The Feast of the Apostles\, Saint Philip and Saint James. The Rector\, T.J. Freeman\, will preach. \nThe Feast of Saints Philip and James honors two apostles of Jesus about whom the Scriptures tell us little\, yet whose faith and witness endure in the life of the Church. \nJames\, called “the Less” to distinguish him from James the son of Zebedee\, is identified as the son of Alpheus. He may also be the “James the younger” who\, with Jesus’s mother Mary\, watched the crucifixion from afar. \nPhilip appears more vividly in the Gospel of John\, where Jesus calls him soon after Andrew and Peter. Eager to share the good news\, Philip brings his friend Nathanael to meet Jesus. His practical\, questioning nature surfaces again when he wonders how to feed the vast crowd\, only to see Jesus multiply the loaves and fishes. Philip later asks\, “Lord\, show us the Father\,” prompting Jesus’ profound reply\, “He who has seen me has seen the Father.” \nThough their later lives are largely hidden from history\, both apostles are remembered for their simple faithfulness—the readiness to follow\, to ask\, to trust\, and to proclaim the truth of Christ.

SUMMARY:The Feast of the Ascension
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on the Feast of the Ascension. The Rector\, T.J. Freeman\, will preach.  \nThe Feast of the Ascension celebrates Christ’s final moments on earth\, his ascension into heaven\, and the promise of the Holy Spirit. Through scripture we learn of the fulfillment of the law of Moses\, the prophets\, and the psalms; everything written about Christ was elucidated to his apostles in his final days. Jesus instructed his disciples to stay in Jerusalem until the arrival of the Spirit\, to then proclaim the repentance and forgiveness of sins to all nations in his name.

Please plan to stay after the service for fellowship and a (free) ice cream treat.

SUMMARY:Children and Youth Sunday + Popsicle Party
DESCRIPTION:On Children & Youth Sunday (Trinity Sunday)\, we’ll invite kids to lead nearly every part of the service at 9 a.m.  \nThe Episcopal Church firmly believes that children and youth of all ages and stages are full participants in weekly worship. Whether it’s babies wailing from the pews\, toddlers climbing over the altar rail\, or acolytes giggling during a long sermon\, all our kids are essential to St. Paul’s community as we witness and live out the gospel. \nWe hope families with children of all ages will show up and represent our vibrant community of young people!   \nAnd\, Trinity Sunday is our last day of church school and the program year! \nChurch school students and their adults will celebrate with a popsicle party in the courtyard and take a moment to cheer on all the kids who are moving up to new classrooms next year. We will also honor our volunteer church school teachers! We hope you’ll join us!
